Sunya - Santa Kristiāna Krūze (born 1996) Latvian born artist, working in Riga.

 

Santa makes expressive, comical, loud scenes and content, that tells about personal experience, observations, explores subconsciousness and dreams. In her artistic practice she refers to pop culture, its contemporary ideologies and its symbiotic relationship with growing up in the age of internet. Her pieces are made using a variety of mediums and techniques - painting, music, video and sculpture. With the use of characters Santa creates a continuous story with added irony that accentuates the artists optimistic, humorous nihilistic nature and the dichotomies it creates.

Santa Kristiāna Krūze graduated (2020) Art Academy of Latvia -  functional design department and Riga School of Design and Art (2016) - sculpture department. Santa Formed an artist collective Trīs aka <3 and collectively found refuge in the historical building on Alksnāja street, inspired them to open “Alksnājs’’ doors not only to art lovers but also other artists, by frequently organising group exhibitions about relevant topics.
